A friend sent me a link to a new BBC show about a Benedictine monk teaching 4 British people how to meditate and spend 8 days on a silent retreat.
I've just started watching it now, and although it is quite religious in a way and they use the Christian terminology, it is also very inspiring.

Yeah, I can only recommend having a look at it.
It´s pretty interesting to see the different stages people go through when starting out with meditation.

On a side note, it was also quite revealing how easy people fall victim to dogma and suggestion in their interpretation of new experiences. (especially in ep. 3)

I agree. The fact it is a bit religious-oriented didn't help with this.
