| | Even if it is a fluff retreat, there is quite a culture here of going on retreats to utilize the logistical supports but using a more technique-heavy and hardcore approach, using various strict techniques, precise focuses, and map concepts to help to achieve more than might have otherwise be achieved.
The age old question remains: do you just follow the teacher's advice, as it is their retreat and their teachings, or do you do your own thing, as the bottom line is your practice and your results, as that is why you are on retreat, and, as they say, "no harm, no foul."
