A family member wants my advice on meditation and Buddhism. She has basically no previous knowledge or experience except cultural assumptions about meditation. I don't anticipate her getting as absorbed in this stuff as a typical person on this site. She also has some health problems, like asthma.

I was planning to teacher her meditation on the breath and loving kindness meditation. And give her counsel when she needed it. And also recommend her a some reading material on meditation and a second book on Buddhism. Perhaps A Path with Heart or resources from Shinzen.org. These probably ought to be materials meant for someone who does not plan to meditate a large amount, but she may surprise me of course.

My questions are: Is there danger in someone such as myself, who is not an expert in meditation, giving meditation advice to a beginner. And what resources do you recommend.

Edited for brevity and tone.

Bhante Gunaratana's books are a great place to start. I recommend Eight Mindful Steps to Happiness.
