Actually his teachers are even broader than that as the first was a gentleman called Merta Ada from Bali (who has taught 86,000 people meditation (!!) - especially a Hindu-Buddhist fusion called Usada (basically a variant of mindfulness of body but *very* healing of disease (one case that springs to mind being Cirrhosis of the liver eg)/
A great teacher, I have done several retreats with him in the UK - highly recommended if you get the chance. Very good one for DhO as they dont come mroe hardcore (I think he was the first westerner to do all the jhanas on all the objects in the Vism.).
