A retreat with emphasis on the maps!

just noticed this retreat on March of 2011 at Cloud Mountain retreat center: The Progression of Insight Knowledge

Of the many maps of the dhamma journey, the map of the progressive stages of insight knowledge is one of the most refined and comprehensive. Insight begins with the most elementary, direct, empirical knowledge of physical and mental experiences being known, and matures with the realization of nibbana, the unconditioned, upon stream-entry. A well-defined map, refined and re-affirmed by generations of meditators inspires confidence, imparts knowledge, guides right effort, and clarifies awareness.

On this retreat, suitable for beginners as well as more experienced yogis, we will present the stages of insight from theoretical as well as practical perspectives.  Instructions and guided meditations will point to the experiential knowledge confirming each stage of insight. Continuous practice throughout the days will enable progressively clarifying wisdom to arise appropriate to each individual’s readiness.

Steve Armstrong has been studying and practicing the Buddha’s teachings since 1975. He co-founded the Vipassana Metta Foundation's dhamma sanctuary-hermitage on Maui and encourages development of all good human qualities. He offers a variety of Buddhist mindfulness practices designed to strengthen an unshakeable sense of well-being.

U Hla Myint has 22 years of monastic training and a PhD in Buddhist Studies and Pali language. A former assistant meditation instructor at Mahasi Meditation Center in Burma he remains a close disciple, translator and teaching assistant of Sayadaw U Pandita. He has translated numerous Burmese dhamma books and dhamma discourses and has authored Meditation Lectures, Conditional Relations in Daily Life (from the abhidhamma) and Pali Language Lessons for English readers. For many years, he has taught the Theravada Tradition to the students of the Antioch College Buddhist Studies Program in Bodh Gaya, India. He resides part-time in San Jose, CA and Pyin Oo Lwin, Burma.

I believe this is the same Steve Armstrong who was mentioned before in relation to a new translation of Mahasi Sayadaw's Manual of Insight.

Fascinating that they are teaching the progress of insight, but make no mention of it in their bios?! Are they arahats? Wouldn't this be useful information?

Oh, silly world.

I wouldn't go that far. I'll give them props for attempting to teach something potentially useful that may bring benefit into people's lives.
