Being mostly unfamiliar with the Pali Canon, can anyone recommend a few sutras that support the main themes in Daniel's book, and the main style of meditation (burmese) promoted? Many thanks...

Here's just a few:
MN 111, my favorite
MN 118
MN 119
MN 121
MN 131
MN 10
MN 44
MN 20
MN 1 (hard, profound, a high standard indeed)
DN 1 (hard to practice from, but I just like it)
DN 2 (more about jhana and powers, but those are fun also)
DN 16 (I just like this one, hard to practice from and somewhat fanciful, but has some rare gems of wisdom)
DN 22 (of course)
DN 33 (only because it is such a dense primer on so much traditional list-based dharma)
Not all are perfect, not all are completely useful, but they each have something good in them and often much that is very interesting to ponder and investigate within one's own experience.
