question about the sound of silence
When I sit, and often during the day when thought subsides I'am aware of 'the sound of silence'. I would not call it nada, as it does not change, and it is not associated with any sort of altered state or exotic mood change. At times there may be a mild sense of relief as thought has momentarily stopped. Attempting to become one with it or prolong the experience, does not seem to accomplish much. Yet it is a part of my life. It can be used like the breath, or a mantra, as a signal that a thought stream has been let go of. Beyond that there sadly seems no particular benifit. Am I missing something? Is it of any significance? Is it better ignored or used or doesn't it matter?
