Why is my meditation not blissful, or even pleasant?

I've been doing the "I Am" meditation, similar to what Rupert Spira and the other non-dualists describe. I can get to the point of awareness being aware of itself, pure Knowing. It's spacious and clear, but it's hard to practice because it's giving me no payoff. No bliss, no pleasure, not even a soothing of my nervous system. Anyone know what's going on and how to fix this? Thanks/.

So... can you please describe this state in more detail? How do you know that awareness is aware of itself?
