Is my log locked?

Tried posting to it but there's no 3 buttons with a reply option anywhere. I can still reply to other threads though, so looks like it might have gotten locked somehow maybe ...

Yes, that topic is locked. I have no idea why, however.

So, I've now unlocked it.

I was wondering too. I saw that it was locked but found no post that explained why. I suppose one of us must have accidently pushed the wrong button while reading it. Really sorry if it was me or one of my cats. Glad it's resolved. I thought maybe you had closed it yourself. I can't remember if that was an option for regular members.

No worries. I hope I didn't offend one of your cats emoticon

(I don't think regular memebers can lock their threads, at least I can't see a way to do it)

Then it was either me or my cats or any of the many other people with moderator buttons, and as I was the last person to post in it before it was closed, I'll try to watch both my fingers and my cats more attentively from now on. I can assure you that neither me nor my cats, or my fingers for that matter, were offended, unless my cats have been fretting about your log behind my back. emoticon

There's only one place I know of where a topic can be locked by a moderator or an admin, and it's not a place where one would go in the normal course of posting or replying to that topic. I suspect some kind of random software glitch or the inadvertent result of testing by the developers working on the improvements to DhO.

Ah. Yes, now that you mention it, that's right. I haven't locked many threads, maybe only one, and now I recall that I had to search for a while before I found out how to do it.

I feel both relieved that it wasn't me and a bit spooked about such a glitch.

I'd set a glitch as the last possibility and a cat with access to touch screen as the first possibility ;)

I do have touch screen. My partner Levitte who has been working as a programmer for 40 years and has more than 10 years of concentrated experience as a system admin also thinks it's much more likely to be a cat.

 Yes.
Although there are bugs that can occur only once or a few times in long periods of time, but for something like Liferay, and for a functionality like locking a thread that is part of the core functionality of a messageboard, if there was such a bug, it would be likely that we had seen it more frequently, unless it's a very very very unusual scenario.

I'd suggest making it impossible for the cats to access touch screen, either by using passcodes or whatever you think is best.
Because I think it can lead to unwanted misunderstandings and judgmental assumptions about DhO.
Thanks.

I have passcodes and I always immediately close the screen when I stop using it. If my cats were responsible, they must have done it extremely quickly while I was using the ipad. They occasionally do jump onto the screen even though I do my very best to keep them away from it. Siavash, I take it that you never had a cat? emoticon

 I love cats emoticon
I had two different cats in different times, each for a few years.
Yes, it's difficult, if not impossible to make them behave emoticon .

I taught one of my previous cats tricks, and he immediately started to use them as a way to beg for treats when he wanted. That same cat also learned how to turn off my alarm clock before I woke up. I was wondering why I kept oversleeping until one morning when I happened to be awake before the alarm was about to go off. That morning I saw my cat rushing to the alarm clock and turning it off just as the first beep had barely started.

One of my other previous cats actually once changed the settings for the screen display of my computor to tilt it sideways, just by jumping onto the keyboard very quickly.

 Yes it can happen.
Although with touch screens and touch pads it's much much easier to have accidental clicks. Just having a small drop of water on a touch pad can cause similar things.
