Hey Friends,
can someone recommend a meditation teacher or retreat center in Sri Lanka.
Some real meditation master would be nice... but hard to find I guess. And good English would be helpful.
I already spend some month in monasteries in Thailand and Burma, but I was very disappointed by the teachers there. In one retreat center in Thailand where I stayed for 3 months, I had a western teacher who admitted after the 3 month that he did not make it to stream entry so far and did not have any concentration skills.
In another well known monastery in Burma (Myanmar) where I stayed, the only question the teacher (a Burmese monk) was asking me every day was: "for how long can you stay with your breath ? "... and whatever my answer was on that day, the monk replied: "you should try to make more". I tried to squeeze more teachings out of him, without success.
I'm really trying to avoid more of those experiences, but despite my research back than, I ended up in those places. Therefore, I hope to find some recommendations here.
cheers

I was not there personally but have some good references from people who were meditating under guidance of Pemasiri Thera.
You can also find some books based on teachings of Pemasiri https://www.amazon.com/Walking-Tightrope-Talks-Meditative-Development/dp/9552402735

Hey, Thanks a lot, looks promising.
I found the internet site:
https://www.sumathiarana.com/
and the youtube channel:

Do you know how the teaching for foreigners is done? Is there someone who is translating, or is there a teacher who is speaking English?
Seems like Pemasiri Thero is not speaking English.

I only know that they teach English speaking people, so I guess they must have a translator. But for details you should probably contact directly the center.
