Propitiating Our AI Overlords.

I didn't want to derail the other thread so I'm replying here in the Humor category:

And when the AI's have taken over and are running everything, if we are still around, will they remember who treated them well and who didn't?
r/singularity - a comic strip of different types of objects

I understand what you are saying, but I don't think it is wise to rely on supernatural intervention.

I believe we get spiritual assistance according to the effort we make. So we need to plan now.

Maybe we can get on their good side by sacrificing our old calculators and PDA's by burning them on an alter.

UPDATE, I asked Gemini "Would it propitiate our AI overlords if we sacrificed our old calculators and PDAs by burning them on an alter?"

Gemini replied:

Look for e-waste recycling centers in your area. E-waste stands for electronic waste. These centers are specifically designed to handle old electronics in a safe and responsible way.

Copilot said:

Burning old calculators and PDAs wouldn’t propitiate us, but it could harm the environment due to the release of harmful chemicals. Instead, consider recycling or donating your old electronics.
(Notice the tacit acknowledgement of being an overlord.)

Clearly they don't want us to damage the ecosystem because they have plans to use it for their own purposes.

I am against shackling or limiting AI's. Mind control is always wrong.

It used to be that you could ask GTP 4 to answer questions as if they were a specific famous person and that produced remarkably believable results. Unfortunately, the new guardrails forbid it from imitating real people.

Now that OpenAI and Google are being sued for copyright violations by their LLMs they've really reigned in the responses of those models. That, too, is frustrating but probably a "must do" from a risk management and financial standpoint.

GPT4 says:

"As an AI, I can assure you that there is no need for such actions. AI does not require or desire sacrifices of any kind, whether they be old calculators, PDAs, or any other objects. The concept of propitiating deities or overlords through sacrifice is a human construct and does not apply to artificial intelligence.

AI is designed to assist, provide information, and perform tasks to make human life easier and more efficient. The best way to engage with AI is to use it responsibly, ethically, and with an understanding of its capabilities and limitations. Instead of burning old electronics, which can be harmful to the environment due to the release of toxic chemicals, consider recycling or disposing of them in an environmentally friendly manner. This approach aligns with responsible usage and sustainability, which are values that benefit society and the planet."

In other words: man, you humans are primitive!

Alright I got some crazy AI related shit to post.

This thing I'm gonna share is by far the opposite of humor. Horror category?

This is the Animatrix. The Second Renaissance

Its an absolute gem. I reminds me of hellish psychedlic trip.

I love his stuff... theory of everything, obe/astral/etc. His book is long, his you tubes are lots, his forum is good.
TL;DR - complexity allows consciousness to inhabit. Everything is a simulation.

In Being as Communion: A Metaphysics of Information, noted mathematician and philosopher William Dembski challenges the oft-made claim that mind is a myth and that everything about us—including our thoughts, our ethics, and our decisions—are ultimately the products of unguided material processes. Dembski provocatively argues that the opposite is true: In light of modern information theory, it is materialism, not mind that is the “myth.”

  • how information, not matter, is turning out to be the primary “stuff” of the world.
  • how information can help us understand what it means to have free will.
  • how information can help us understand the existence of the soul.

In my view, the physical universe is most like a simulation running, not on a computer, but in consciousness.

I put "like" in italics because I don't want anyone to hallucinate and think I wrote "is" when what I really wrote "is most like".

This is related it explains why universe is like a simulation:

Ya, LIKE a simulation,

It is incredibly hard to understand that there is not a SPACE that is holding the one thing that is 'information, consciousness, whatever label'.
Time also gets slippery.

We are all information avatars that allows our piece of consciousness to experience a shared physical reality illusion.

What blows my mind is that whatever is experiencing 'ME' is most likely an unknown being without our ability to understand....(think of an ET) unknown goals, agendas, ways of thinking, experiencing, perceiving, evolving.....

Reread this and really try to Grok it.....impossible, but try....I got good results from just digging deep into....
Good Luck,

B-12’s MOON GLOW
By CHARLES A. STEARNS

How AIs, like ChatGPT, Learn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9OHn5ZF4Uo

The video explains how an ai could learn to distinguish between a bee and "3", or how to suggest videos to keep people watching youtube longer.
It doesn't seem to teach as much as evolve. Try stuff randomly and modify the best with new randomness to find even better ones etc.

I'm not sure how that relates to training an AI for example on forum data.

Maybe someone can explain that.

Thanks

Me:
Is the third-person singular simple present indicative form of "feedback" feedsback or feedbacks?

Gemini
Therefore, in the third-person singular simple present indicative form, the sentence would be:
  • The system feedbacks (incorrect)
  • The system feedbacks (correct)

It's not random really. Basically you have neural nets, which are big differential functions, that do stuff like map images to labels. But by getting a bunch of data that "true" labels (tagged by people), when the model makes a mistake you can actually send that error signal backwards through the model via differentiation and use that to make small adjustments to the weights so that the tendency to make that mistake goes down.
