The Sufis have a saying:
"If you are not, you see Him"
Or
""When you are not, you see Him"

Seeing:
Sufis make a difference between "basar" or seeing with the eyes and "basira" or inner seeing which is direct knowledge, "marifa", Gnosis.

Him:
Him is a reference to the nameless, shapeless God or call it Ultimate Reality or Nothingness..
Anyway, only He can know Himself. No "me" can know Him.

This is the mother of all catch-22s.

The unintuitive method is to be more present, aware, conscious, mindful;
And at the same time completely willing not to be. Like when you surrender to sleep).
And trusting the process. It has always led to death. Death of the "me", that is. This is what it means to end the cycle of rebirth or reincarnation.

So I developed the following method:
1. Calm the mind (sitting, lying down, walking, whatever)
2. Ask yourself repeatedly if you are at that moment Mindful. Then ask yourself if you are "willing not to be". And finally are you trusting.

A session looks something like this:
Mindful ? Willing not to be ? Trusting? Mindful? Willing not to be ? Trusting? Mindful? Willing not to be ? Trusting? Mindful? Willing not to be ? Trusting? Mindful? Willing not to be ? Trusting? Mindful?...
