Hi! Did that line caught your attention? I want to share this tedtalk and site which deal with an epidemic that is highly affecting todays guys growing up with high speed internet. To be totally honest I'm not unaffected myself. being 16 when we got internet at home, 30 now. So it have been 14 years now with access to the more "juicy" sides of the web. Since this site is full of guys I can't believe that I am the only one that have looked at what's only two mouse clicks away.

The Great Porn Experiment

After looking at those site's I decided that I've had enough of it and that it's not so easy just to quit something that is so easily accessible and cater to one of our basic instincts. There is always a weak moment. Actually took the advice of the guys on the site who have far bigger problems than me and installed K9 web protection. Gave the password to my brother, he's 19. That had two purposes one the obvious K9 may deny me access to something I actually need to look at. The other objective was to make him aware of what porn does to you. As he is defiantly in the risk group. In fact when a professor tried to find college guys who was not using it. To do a research, he couldn't find them.

But a reference group is starting to form because young and old guys on the net are quitting by the thousands and starting support groups to help each other. Why are they quitting? Easy the only thing that would get those guys attention. Erectile dysfunction. I'm sure you remember your 20s and that ED was most probably not something on your mind. But that is what's happening to the unlucky ones that are addicted.

Here are one of those forums. Not unlike DhO but those guys support each other in something else that is probably just as hard as being disciplined with your practice. They go voluntarily on a several month no porn, no sex ,no masturbation reboot to balance there brains again.

Just felt I needed to share it with you guys and possible parents on here. I'm not a moralist by any means but this stuff is highly addictive and irresistible to the teenage brain. And actually seem to cause rewiring in the brain.

Take care...

Interesting stuff!

I´ve been on the lower spectrum of such addiction but I´ve certainly noticed that I´ve abused porn/orgasms in order to avoid other problems and/or simply feel good (about the release).

The scientific arguments make sense to me, so I´ll give it a try and see what happens.
There´s one advantage I´ve already noticed but seemingly noone else mentions it: there are huge amounts of free disk space on my computer now. ;)

That sounds similar to me. I have by no means had the more serious problems. But I've also used it as something to escape life and difficult emotions with. Since I've been on this spiritual path now for 4,5 years. it was certainly time to ask myself if looking at this stuff was really contributing to a happy life. And the answer was pretty obvious, no.
