Hiya,

Is self-awareness mainly mediated by activity in the medial pre-frontal cortex?

Are there other brain areas involved?

Thanks

These regions (according to this paper) seem particularly involved in self-referential processing: posterior cingulate, dorsal anterior cingulate, and dorsolateral prefrontal cortices, and may be down regulated in meditation.

(Based on fMRI not EEG)
