Hey, I will be in New York City sometime on the 28th and day of the 29th before I fly out of LaGuardia at 5pm on the 29th to head back to Tupelo.

I finish up with the Contemplative Development Mapping Project on the 27th, and then either go back to New Haven with Jud Brewer and Crew and then train to NYC on the 28th or go directly to New York City the night of the 27th, just depending on what is going on and who is going where and what might be happening in various places.

If anyone is interested in hanging out, let me know. We could have a groovy happening, a shindig, a gathering...

I just logged on for the first time in a few months and it just so happens that I'm living in Philly and could potentially shoot up to NYC on the 28th. It would be awesome to meet all three of you! (Katy, Beoman, Daniel). Although to be clear, that's not a weekend, right? It's a Tuesday-Weds?

You are absolutely right: it's Tuesday (5/28) and Wednesday (5/29). I'm in town that weekend for the birthday and performance of two friends; hence my comment. I'm sorry for throwing you off there. I realized it this morning and am working on plans to stay around longer to meet you guys (knowns Gals: Stef, Steph, Jane, Perseph... it'd be great if you were somehow in the area, too, anyone else.)

I'm really looking forward to meeting you in person. You were here when I was just arriving to the DhO and in peak "dark night of the soul". So, totally affectively, I'm smiling ear to ear that we get to meet in person a few years later. I'm grateful.

Next Question: Where and exactly when? The night of the 28th is probably best.

It would be cool to find a restaurant that had no time pressure, was quiet and private and comfortable enough to allow for good conversation and everyone to hear each other and talk freely and be there a while with good food, a place that is as much as hangout as anything. Anyone know of such a place? I don't get out much, so some place really interesting would be good. Thoughts, O City Dwellers?

I am doing my best to find a way back to NYC on the night of the 27th, as I suddenly have business in NYC at that time also: will be checking out the electronic medical record system implementation at NYPresbyterian: it hopefully will allow me to get more life out of my current job, whose computer system makes working there like swimming through cold syrup against the current.

Anyway, in general I should have time basically the rest of the time. I am not sure exactly when I will go to see that hospital, but will let you know.

I might be able to get you to NYC on the 27th. Will you be in CT and what time? I'm a travelin' the Eastern seaboard that week.. We can coordinate via email if that works for you.

St. Mark's Place area in the warm weather has a lot of options. If weather's nice we could just get tacos and sit in the park (WSP). I think the parks might be open till 1 a.m.? Not sure... And restaurants, Tuesday. night, maybe 10:30? Not sure... Otherwise I'm game for whatever from the folks who know better.

Well, actually, it might not be realistic for me to go. I would have to take a bus from Philadelphia, and looking at the bus schedule, it would arrive in NYC at 2:00PM, and I'd have to catch the bus out of NYC at 6:30PM, from chinatown. So, unless you all want to meet in that small window, I might not make it.

@Katy: I just got an offer of a ride from Barnes Peterson from Barre to NYC with a guy named Zack who also used to work with Willoughby on the Dark Night Project, so I will be traveling down with them.

I think that on the evening of the 27th I will be hanging out with Dan Harris going backstage at Nightline: should be interesting.

I currently have no plans during the day of the 28th or the day of the 29th before I leave at 3pm.

I think that dinner will likely be at an Italian Place that Dan Harris (who I am staying with) suggested Arté Cafe on the upper west side, apparently good food, he says. I looked at the website and it looks nice, only reservation is that booths might be better for conversation...

The Tacos in Central Park idea is a good one also: perhaps lunch?

Central park is a nice place to hang out if the weather is nice.

I'm busy until 10pm on Tuesday (work then rehearsal), so I could meet up after - 10:30pm dinner would work well for me. On Wednesday, busy till 9pm. Either day I'd be up for meeting for lunch if you guys want to do that. I work around Midtown East.

10:30 is a bit late for a Tuesday, but I'm happy to come out if anything is happening earlier.

It turns out I was reading the wrong bus schedule. I thought it was weird that the latest bus leaving NYC was at 6:30PM. But, there are some later buses. A 10:30pm meet up is still too late for me to get back and get some sleep that night, but an earlier meet up would be fun. (also... trains are great, but it's $50 to go 2 hours from NY to Philly, so not in my budget.)

Anyway, I could potentially stay out later, but what is the plan anyway?

My only concern is the time, as it's over an hour each way for me, and my days start at 6am.

Does someone want to name a time and a place? How about 6PM? too early? 7PM? If it's later than that, it probably doesn't make sense for me to go. Anything earlier would be even better. Personally, I'd be fine going anywhere.

Well, I must say that dinner and lunch was a great time, and I am really grateful that people showed up, as it made for some amazing conversation and it was good to meet in person people I have only known in cyberspace.

It was great to meet everyone. I think I'm going to start a new thread with some of my reflections on the evening.

It was a blast! Too bad we can't do it more often.

I'm actually gonna have a gig with my band this Friday at 7pm or so. If you (or anyone else) will be around and would like to come, that'd be great! It's at this scottish bar called the Highlander, on 39th street between 5th & 6th av. I will potentially be getting drunk after the show so that might be fun =P.

Besides that, I'm not gonna be around this Saturday and Im not sure what my plan is for Sunday yet.. might not venture out into the city or might be working (so I could do some lunch for example).

That would be awesome; I have a ton of work to get done before noon tomorrow to get there in time, if I can. So I'd be the subtle hillbillie in rubber boots chewing on long blade of straw...
