Team Goenka

I don't care what technique you use or what lineage you come from, this vote is simply a vote for meditation in general

Thank you, Mr. C, for that PSA. Link-fail contributes to moderate and severe getting-one-camo-short-shorts-in-a-bundle. While that can be fun, I was expecting the nobel goenka-linka.

Looks like an aspiring endeavor. I for one dont care about Nobel Peace Prizes or their winners. Sometimes they are worthy individuals, sometimes not. I feel there is too much politics involved in these things.

IMHO, for Goenkaji, even one of his students reaching the higher fruition's means more than a peace prize. Besides he's too old to care about any worldly recognition. He says that a teacher gains utmost happiness from seeing his students make progress.

Anyway, the chances of this effort reaching it's desired conclusion are pretty slim.

I didn't realize the old bastard's still alive. I wish he would go back and make some new tapes without all the 1980s "Buddha was way ahead of modern physicists with the kalapas concept which the commentaries introduced centuries after his death" mumbo-jumbo. It's a little distracting to the modernists his classes frequently attract in the West.

He deserves a nobel prize, but there is zero probability of him getting one. Zero.

He's 88, not really too well physically, but he still holds meetings now and then to guide the organization.

The tapes were made for free, and everyone is free to believe in whatever they want to believe and leave out the rest. If anyone still has problems they can certainly find whatever is more accommodating to their views and pay for it. emoticon

In the even older tapes/discourses he would recommend a vegetarian diet but skipped this in the latest edition as lot of people were getting offended.
