A D R - 2014-02-27 22:28:43 - My dog is more enlightened.

To all those struggling on the path of insight, please heed the following advice:

Quit it. My dog is already more enlightened than you. So just stop already.

Bring it on Daniel.

Such enlightenment! Very more! emoticon

On the other hand, my dog inspected our trash can and ate all the coffee grounds. Quite awake, but not very enlightened, if I'm any judge.

Cheers,
Florian

If it's a well trained dog with good habits then yes.

Animals are naturally more present and cats are zen masters.

My sister informed me that our dog is a jhanic master. She's Japanese so I guess that's pretty zen.

A monk asked, "Does a dog have a Buddha-nature or not?"

The master said, "Not !"

The monk said, "Above to all the Buddhas, below to the crawling bugs, all have Buddha-nature. Why is it that the dog has not?"

The master said, "Because he has the nature of karmic delusions".

A monk asked Master Joshu, "Does a dog have Buddha Nature?"

Joshu replied, "Yes."

And then the monk said, "Since it has, how did it get into that bag of skin?"

Joshu said, "Because knowingly, he purposefully offends."

That fits right in with the upended kitchen trash can.

Just wanted to give a status update.

Supreme zen master "Bronzy" has completed yet another bhumi that we shall call, "mirroring cause and effect with no and right effort."

Your dog is clearly enlightened. He is demonstrating non-preference behaviour ... coffee grinds, fillet steak it's all the same ...

(you know 'dog' spelled backwards is 'god'?)>_>

A monk and his student were walking along when a wild dog came running towards them very agressivly, barking and about to bite. The monk quickly took of his belt and whiped the dog, sending him running away.  The student turned to the monk and said " I thought you said all beings have budda nature, why did you hurt the dog ?"  The monk replied "budda in this case wanted to be hit with a belt, rather than bitten."

That's a good one.  Except I won't treat that as humour but something I'll use.
