Hi all,

This is the time of year that Buddhist Global Relief (BGR) has their large fundraiser, an organization founded by the scholar-practitioner monk Bhikkhu Bodhi. You can also designate them as a charity on Amazon, if you like, and a percent of purchases goes to their work.

You can easily see how BGR alloates monies by just scrolling down any of  BGR's web pages, where they have a pie graph of spending, https://buddhistglobalrelief.org.

Their specific fiscal records of spending are also easily available in a click so you can assess how they spend your donations: https://buddhistglobalrelief.org/active/financialInfo.html

For example: here is their IRS Form 990 for 2013: https://buddhistglobalrelief.org/documents/FinancialDocuments/BGR_990_FYE_2013-06-30.pdf and in lines 14 and 15 of "Expenses" one can quickly see no salaries or benefits were given. This is a volunteer group.

91% of their funds are directly applied to their projects, like "Making markets for women" in Bangladesh [1] and rice intensification.

Here are the walk dates.

This looks very cool.  I am bookmarking it.

I really love how BB has started reaching out to the world in this way.

If anyone is interested in hunger relief, Food For Life Global does that, but with vegetarian meals only:

Thank you for that link, too, Steve. Looks like they do a lot on a small budget. Very welcoming and timely.

Yes, I really appreciate BB's outreach, "engaged buddhism", in addition to everything else he does.

And recently at a friend's theistic center a group packed 30,000 meals in 3 hours with Stop Hunger Now, which provides immediate hunger relief particularly in schools, so they can assure education and nutrition. And SHN plays fun loud music while everyone does their assigned pouring/ weighing/packing jobs, striking a gong every five thousand meals; it was a lot fun and an eye opener about what a meal for six looks like in dire areas. For people who are interested, SHN is found in larger metro areas and recently expanding to New England areas, I think.
