The Way of Dust

Art and poetry By Zenju (calligraphy is my name Dharma Ekai Zenju)

We live in the realm of dust,

in which we find corners,

and walls to cling to,

we might lie or hang there together

thinking we are the corner,

or the wall,

until the wind comes from

the door being opened,

and our dusty selves are sent off

to another part of the room,

or perhaps if we are lucky

we will be blown out the window

into a greater mystery of life.

If I were to edit this poem it would read without ten words:

We live in the realm of dust,

in which we find corners,

and walls to cling to,

we might lie or hang there together

thinking we are the corner,

or the wall,

until the wind comes from

the door being opened,

and our dusty selves are sent off

to another part of the room,

or perhaps

we will be blown out the window
