Are we aware that we are fragmented?

Interesting talks, good direct pointing, no, excellent direct pointing.

Itroduction and seven dialogues.  Though it is more beneficail to treat the dialouges as meditations, or rather contemplations, an investigation.

Just look without thought
I wonder if you have ever walked along a crowded street, or a lonely road, and just looked at things without thought? There is a state of observation without the interference of thought. Though you are aware of everything about you, and you recognize the person, the mountain, the tree, or the oncoming car, yet the mind is not functioning in the usual pattern of thought. I don't know if this has ever happened to you. Do try it sometime when you are driving or walking. Just look without thought; observe without the reaction which breeds thought. Though you recognize color and form, though you see the stream, the car, the goat, the bus, there is no reaction, but merely negative observation; and that very state of so-called negative observation is action. Such a mind can utilize knowledge in carrying out what it has to do, but it is free of thought in the sense that it is not functioning in terms of reaction. With such a mind, a mind that is attentive without reaction, you can go to the office, and all the rest of it.

Just finished all seven of the discussions in the series above.  Very interesting.  Very good pointers, alot of introspective questions raised.

It took about a week to watch, and I broke it up into alot of 20 minute sections, otherwise, for me anyway, it is too much at once to contemplate.  I find it is better to take things slowly, easier to examine what is being pointed to, rather than just watching.

So good and succinct. i always think it's funny when people characterize his teaching as methodless. He is describing a very direct form of shamatha/vipassana, uncovering a more primal non-thematic attentiveness and intelligence and just going about your life tapping into that, seeing how things unfold when life isn't continually placed back in all the little boxes that we think up or absorb from society. So good. "That very state of [...] observation is action". Wonderful. Really elicits the way that awakeness has an active intelligence 'built in', isn't just passive observation by any means, but is actually quite engaged and creative.

I think a great benefit of approaching things the way he describes is that one runs less of a risk of crafting a 'spiritual' persona or to fall into passivism. This squares with my experience that more awake modes of attention make for a smoother life and activities altogether including the normal activities of a householder in our society (now, whether one's motivation to participate in all one's committments stays the same after awakening is another matter lol).

Yes indeedy, It seems Jiddu is pointing to the subtracting of the mental formations from the mind, the mental stuff that clogs up our mind pipes, that is what brings clarity, lucidity, and more energy.  A mind free, so it can process more, and more effeciently.  Paradoxically , this leads to less thoughts, rather less needless thoughts.  And, he shows that thought systems do not free one from thought systems.  It would be like trying to clear a pile of dirt by adding shovelfuls of dirt.  Again, not to be confused with being a brain dead zombified human, but actually quite the opposite.

Interview with Huston Smith. Huston is very intelligent. Not yet finished, myself, edited out my hasty comments.

And further, not trying to proselytize here, just fleshing out the Jiddu Krishnamirti section.
