People's posts getting hidden? -- inadvertently acquiring permission status closed to general viewers, someone said.
a) posts whose data-row in "Recent Posts" appears in black type face ,
e.g. 7/1/16 "Happy Birthday Ron!" authored by Noah.
b) threads in "Recent Posts", but the (recent) post (and possibly other posts) that got in into the current list not accessible,
e.g. thread "My journey, current experience, etc."
by Chuck Kasmire; says last post "Date: 7/4/16 2:26 PM By: Aflatun"
but open the thread, and the last post (I can see) is

I'm noticing the problems as well. It seems to be all related to "permissions" defaulting to an unchecked “view” state (randomly?). It's a tricky problem because users will not notice their posts are not visible (or their topic is black) unless they are NOT logged in.
This is a fairly recent problem related to the last server work. To “fix” it (as I will likely have to with this post), the user needs to click the permissions button on their post and check the "view" check box.
(For example, the user "Aflatun" would have to do this to see the post just made to this thread).
The proper fix is to investigate the default state for new posts on the server.

Agreed. I fixed the post that Chris mentioned in the OP.

I see. I checked "view" and saved, is this and the prior post visible now?

Yes, it's good now.
I can't see the recent post from Chris in http://www.dharmaoverground.org/web/guest/discussion/-/message_boards/message/5860997 though. (or his post in http://www.dharmaoverground.org/web/guest/discussion/-/message_boards/message/5864187).

The 07/04/2016 aflatun post is visible, as it Noah's happy birthday ron!.
One still in black is:

Same here. Also some threads are unreadable/unclickable. I remember there were these problems a while ago, maybe 1-2 years ago but recently they came back after the very last update when Daniel gave the heads up 1-2 weeks ago.

We are getting a less than %50 posting success rate lately. For the time being, members need to test to see if others can see their post by signing out from this website, then checking their post. Can you see the post you added to a thread, or is your new thread black? If you cannot see the post, or your new thread is black, you need to fix it by setting the permissions/view check box (see comments in this thread).
Or, alternatively, just verify the correct check box is set. The permissions/view check box is randomly unset lately and that is a problem.

Hi,
This problem should be fixed for any new posts created from this point on.
The default permission when creating a new post should now always be 'Anyone'.
Please let me know if anyone still encounters this problem with new posts.
Hopefully i will have time tomorrow to go back and fix the permissions on old posts that have incorrect permissions.
The reason for the problem is highly liferay specific and probably wouldn't mean much unless you happen to have intimate knowledge of liferays inner workings.
Please notify me at simon (at) theoak (dot) se if the problem persist as my time is currently very limited and i don't always keep up with what's happening here.
Thanks,
Simon

Hopefully, Liferay 7 will solve some of this, if we can ever get it upgraded.
Hello everyone
It appears to be working now, since (at least) my posts are visible (when I log out) now.
I have been invisible for weeks. Is that voidness?
Form is void; void is form....

I think this is the option to choose, it is listed right below the post box, the choices are Anyone, or Owner, it is a dropdown Menu, but then again I could be wrong....
Choosing Anyone allows Anyone to view, choosing Owner, allows only the Owner.

Correct.
My posts made during my period of enlightenment or voidness remain invisible to others because the supreme enlightenment is traceless (however, they remain visible to the posters therefore they can be reposted).
However, my new posts since yesterday are visible.

Hi,
I think all messages previously suffering from invisibility should now be fixed. Can anyone confirm?
