Looking for retreat centers in Europe

Forum: Places to Practice

After my good experience at the MBMC, I have the feeling that I should go at least one time per year in retreat. Unfortunately my time and my finances can not allow me to go to Malaysia as frequent as I would like to. Therefore, I want to as you if you could recommend me any retreat center in Germany (or Europe) that practice along the Mahasi Sayadaw tradition.

I have been googling around, but so far I have not find any place similar to some good centers in USA (e.g. IMS). I am either looking at the wrong places or such centers are really rare. Any experience so far? Were do the good meditators go in the old continent? Any hint is welcomed!

@Dan, is Titmuss still teaching at the Gaia House (England)? I could not find him in the website...

This French page references some European Mahasi Sayadaw retreat centers:

The Burmese Sayadaw U Pannathami from Blue Montain, Australia will give a 2-weeks retreat in May near Paris, and a 30 days retreat in June in Belgium.

Non-mahasi, but still good, check out Fred Von Allmen. I sat with him and found him clear and straightforward: http://www.fredvonallmen.ch/

Gaia House in Devon, England is also non-mahasi, but still good, depending on who is teaching that week/month, and I got a lot out of my 2 one month work retreats there.

Thank you both for the hints! I hope I get the time/money to go there. I definitely will write the report afterwards.

Here is a center from the Mahasi Sayadaw - Ajahn Tong tradition. Its in Bavaria.

http://www.vipassana-dhammacari.com/

They started doing something new where you can practice at home a couple of hours a day for several weeks and then finish the retreat later at the center over a weekend. The teachers have trained at Wat Chom Tong in Thailand under Ajahn Tong.
