DhO Migrating to new server, expect downtime

Dear All,
We (well, actually Simon, as he is both the brains and muscle behind this move) are shortly going to move the DhO to a new server in the cloud rather than the little MacMini that it has sat on for the last 5 years or so, reasons being various. Expect downtime and glitches while we sort this out. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Also, at some point, we will try again to upgrade to Liferay 7, which hopefully will go vastly better than last time, when, after a few weeks of frustration, ran screaming back to Liferay 6. Expect strange and unexpected changes, hopefully most of which will be good. Liferay 7 is likely a lot better for mobile devices, so we have been told, and some choose to believe it, ... someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, etc.
In the meantime, thanks for your patience and understanding,
Daniel

Dear All,
The DhO will move tomorrow to a new server. It will be down for a while tomorrow starting sometime in the morning while we grab the current database and migrate it and switch the DNS pointing and all of that. Hopefully, Norns permitting, it will be back up sometime tomorrow evening, but don't hold your breath, and instead try noting it. ;)
May all this go something like according to plan,
Daniel

A reminder that the DhO will move to a new server today if all goes well, but to do so will have to be down for a bit. May this go well.

Yay! We appear to be up and on the new server: may this one be vastly more stable than the last cloud server (which was 5 years ago) and at least as stable as the MacMini, which performed admirably for 5 years. It does create a small additional cost, but no biggie in the grand scheme of things.
The DhO being in the cloud will make server management while traveling much easier and hopefully provide the highest level of stability and function yet. Best wishes!

Next plan is upgrade to Liferay 7, which, though a disaster last time, hopefully will suck vastly less this time and create increased mobile device usability and some more upgraded features. I am not sure when we will attempt this, but will let you know when I know. Apologies in advance for what complexities this might cause.
