The DhO Google+/Hangouts Community

For those who missed it the first time around, there is a DhO Google+/Hangouts Community called the Dharma Overground Community.

Here is the link: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/116578109405218114523

Unlike the DhO, it is members only, but nobody so far has been refused, as basically it is just us here. Click on the link and request to join: that turns out to be the easiest way.

Use it to chat, hang out, have sits together, retreats together, or whatever, so long as it keeps with the general spirit of the DhO.

Enjoy and connect,

Daniel

Sweet. Thanks Daniel.

So it worked well with a sit Mario hosted today.

I would use it this month quite heavily if no one is opposed: 4 a.m. - 6 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (UTC: 09:00 - 11:00) and 8-10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (UTC 01:00-03:00).

Don't forget Daylightsaving. 4 a.m. EDT = 0800 UTC.

Thanks, Mr. Cameron,
Derek Cameron:
Don't forget Daylightsaving. 4 a.m. EDT = 0800 UTC.

So I think that'll be a concern these two dates (Sundays):
3 November 2013
9 March 2014

Whooo! I feel so pre-emptively organized! I think I'll also match up my clean-laundry socks today, make it Seriously Organized 'round here. =]

Does anyone know if it's possible to join the hangout from iPad? I'm usually pretty quick at figuring these things out, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do it, even after I was invited.

I tried the G+ app, the Hangouts app, and the browser. There was no obvious way to enter a hangout.

It is still occasionally active, but the downside is that I can't figure out how to add new members, as Google is often so simple it is cryptic, and so cryptic it is unusable, and it keeps changing. So, if anyone can figure out why Manage Request links on Add-me emails don't go to anything that shows those who requested memebership, as it used to do, then I can add people who have requested. I spent about 20 minutes trying to add recent requests this morning: no obvious way to do it.

Any help appreciated,

Daniel

If anyone would like to join my test community, I'll see if I can figure it out:

Well, it worked first time for my test community. The emails appeared in the "Social" tab in Gmail. Then clicking on the red "Manage Requests" button worked, or you can get there from the community page, clicking the gear wheel, and doing "Manage members." But, yeah, both methods worked. I don't know why it isn't working for the DhO community.

Well, it looks like Google has, in any case, pulled the plug on Community Hangouts. From https://support.google.com/plus/answer/6320397 I read: "On November 17, 2015, we launched the new Google+ ... The new Google+ doesn't include Hangouts. To use Hangouts, visit the Hangouts homepage or download the Hangouts app."

You can no longer invite a whole community to a Hangout. You have to explicitly add people to the Hangout one by one!
