DhO as a sandbox

(This thread is forked-off Dharma Overground (Ethics/Right Speech)
http://www.dharmaoverground.org/web/guest/discussion/-/message_boards/message/5723876)

Anyonewho wants to play in it may.
Think music, which is played and practiced – "practices that actually lead to beneficial, fundamental mental, perceptual and emotional transformations." Actually, in that opening paragraph (on the home page), where that quotation comes in the first sentence, the word 'Buddhism' does not appear (nor anywhere else on the page). Granted the title above states 'dharma', but that word is used in all manner of, though largely Indic-based, traditions. (Maybe it's Daniel Ingram's dharma, but his name appears only incidentally on the home page.)

Anyway, anyone can build their sand castles here, with or without moats, towers, etc., in the bounds of the 'principles and attitudes' listed right after that paragraph. And anyone can work with others on their sand castles. People can do whole subdivisions of castles. Or you can dig tunnels or even bury yourself in the sand too (but maybe that would be 'underground'?).

As long as you're not mean and kick-down others' castles, or kick sand in their face, steal or break their pails or shovels, pull their hair, steal their cookies, etc. (Spelled out in the list of 'ground rules' further down the page.)

As a comment on that thread (hereforked from) – a quality of 'right speech' (which got patched into the title), is non-divisiveness.

Here is the complete line from which you partially quoted in which the second word itself is Dharma besides it being in the name of the forum itself:

"The Dharma Overground is a resource for the support of practices that actually lead to beneficial, fundamental mental, perceptual and emotional transformations.
"

Yes the word Dharma is used in Indic based traditions and so the right thing to do would be to use it in that sense itself.

I think that the forum name doesn't reflect the true nature of itself. If the name of the forum is changed to reflect what it contains then it would be right speech without any need to divide the forum itself.

The name sounds all inclusive to me!
