Rapture is about as significant as a massive dump.
Based on my supreme knowledge of the ancient maps and my deep practice of the fissure mahājhānas, I believe that you are incorrect, as massive dumps correlate more with rupture than with rapture.

Find the book, Entangling Vines, Koan case 19 - Xiangyan’s “Up a Tree”
Xiang - Speech
Yan - To face
Zhi - Position, place or seat
Xian - Early, or to appear
So, most people would never guess the meaning of the last statement, "Bring me a question!"
What does the person represent hanging from the tree by his Shin (Two front teeth in Hebrew)? Fruit. Shin is where we get the English word Shine, or the light. In Hebrew, the Shin is the light that consumes the coal (entropy). The fruit rots due to entropy, but is also responsible for the regeneration of the tree itself. The man hanging is the fruit. If he speaks, he falls on the ground. This is symbolism for body, mind and speech. Speech is what our mind produces in time, then into form. Fruit falls. If he says nothing, his energy runs out (entropy / light consumed). What does he do?
What does it mean that Adam knew Eve? Knowledge, or the answer to a question. What is the question here? Bodhi (Tree) Dharma (Nature of Duality as One). If he falls, he is planted again. How do you climb a tree (so to speak) and what does it mean that he wants someone to bring him a question? What is fruit and what does Eve have to do with Adam in relative terms (like Bodhidharma).
Indeed, he's wanting to ask a question (seeking knowledge). It's the girl he's alluding to. This old monk will climb a tree so to speak.
This type of humor is also hidden in the Bible. When Ruth uncovers the 'feet' of Boaz on the "threshing floor," she is uncovering what's between the feet. She plans to "thresh" out some seed. Feet are a euphemism for genitals, or the seed Ruth was Gleaning behind the harvesters.
Bodhidharma comes to liberate us from the cycle. There is no difference here between falling from the Garden of Eden story and falling into Samsara. Same same, only different. His statement is a joke about the feminine.
"Bring me a question!" It's easy to speak when your're up a tree. Hard to speak when you are under it.
Added to this, the koan is also a reflection of the peach tree and the peaches in question are the maidens who gather to pick the fruit. This is in a koan somewhere. I can't find it.
“The idea that the peach was a kami appears to be connected with the Chinese conception of a peach world-tree, a form of the Mother Goddess, the fruit of which contains her ” life substance ” or shen as do the jewels like the pearl and jade objects; the peach is a goddess symbol as the phallus is a symbol of a god.” — Donald Alexander Mackenzie
Kami is compared to the feminine generative principle. In Hebrew, the tree of life is Elohim and Ruach Elohim (his feminine Spirit) making Adam, or saying, "Let US make Adam in OUR image and likeness, BOTH male and female. The fall of man was the dividing of Eve from Adam's Rib. Fruit and the knowledge of it, so to speak. But fall where? Into the Garden.
Bring me a question!
Xiangyan Zhixian said, “It’s as though a person were up a tree, hanging from a limb by his teeth and unable to grab a branch with his hands or touch the trunk with his feet. Someone under the tree asks, ‘What is the meaning of Bodhidharma’s coming from the West?’ If the person doesn’t reply, he fails the questioner; if he does reply, he loses his life. In such a situation, how would you respond?”
The senior monk Hutou said, “I don’t care about climbing the tree. Please say something, Master, about before the tree was climbed!”
The master gave a hearty laugh.
Regarding this, Xuedou Chongxian commented, “It’s easy to speak when up a tree, hard to speak beneath it. This old monk will climb a tree. Bring me a question!”

Substitute Buddha for Jesus and online dharma talks for TV-screen on Sundays in this text, ”Jesus he knows me” (Genesis):
You see the face on the TV screen
Coming at you every Sunday
See that face on the billboard
That man is me
On the cover of the magazine
There's no question why I'm smiling
You buy a piece of paradise
You buy a piece of me
I'll get you everything you wanted
I'll get you everything you need
Don't need to believe in hereafter
Just believe in me
'Cause Jesus he knows me
And he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows I'm right
And he's been telling me
Everything is alright
I believe in the family
With my ever loving wife beside me
But she don't know about my girlfriend
Or the man I met last night
Do you believe in god
'Cause that's what I'm selling
And if you want to get to heaven
I'll see you right
You won't even have to leave your house
Or get outta your chair
You don't even have to touch that dial
'Cause I'm everywhere
And Jesus he knows me
And he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows I'm right
Well he's been telling me
Everything's gonna be alright
Won't find me practicing what I'm preaching
Won't find me making no sacrifice
But I can get you a pocketful of miracles
If you promise to be good, try to be nice
God will take good care of you
Just do as I say, don't do as I do
I'm counting my blessings,
I've found true happiness
'Cause I'm getting richer, day by day
You can find me in the phone book,
Just call my toll free number
You can do it anyway you want
Just do it right away
There'll be no doubt in your mind
You'll believe everything I'm saying
If you want to get closer to him
Get on your knees and start paying
'Cause Jesus he knows me
And he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows I'm right
Well he's been telling me
Everything's gonna be alright, alright
'Cause Jesus he knows me
And he knows I'm right
Oh yes he knows me and he knows I'm right

Substitute Buddha for Jesus and online dharma talks for TV-screen on Sundays in this text, ”Jesus he knows me” (Genesis):
Jesus was a Capricorn (Owed to John Prine)
(Kris Kristofferson)
Jesus was a Capricorn
He ate organic food
He believed in love and peace
And never wore no shoes
Long hair, beard and sandals
And a funky bunch of friends
Reckon we'd just nail him up
If he came down again
'Cause everybody's gotta have somebody to look down on
Who they can feel better than at any time they please
Someone doin' somethin' dirty decent folks can frown on
If you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me
Eggheads cussing rednecks cussing
Hippies for their hair
Others laugh at straights who laugh at
Freaks who laugh at squares
Some folks hate the Whites
Who hate the Blacks who hate the Klan
Most of us hate anything that
We don't understand
'Cause everybody's gotta have somebody to look down on
Who they can feel better than at any time they please
Someone doin' somethin' dirty decent folks can frown on
If you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me

Kami is compared to the feminine generative principal.
It is easy to give answers from the top of the tree. It is hard to hear the answer from the bottom of the tree. The monk has climbed the tree means he is prepared to give an answer. "Bring me a question" requires the questioner to climb the tree if the answer is to be heard. Quite possibly, once the tree is climbed the answer will be apparent. If not, the monk will answer with his life.

Good view, but compare to the fruit (man hanging). Seeking knowledge requires a consort (wisdom is always feminine). It's the point of climbing the tree (so to speak) of the garden. Eve, in the Bible, was Adam's divided consort (his walk in life to find wisdom from suffering). For Adam to know function (good) and non-function (evil / dukkha), he had to climb Eve's tree so to speak. Adam knew Eve. From this, the fall into Samsara. The rectification to the fall is the Christ, or the risen image (both male and female). Eve was taken in Genesis 2. She is then refined in the wilderness (all of us as Eve / Mind / Spirit). Mary is the refined consort, again joined to Adam as the last Adam, or Christ. This is the story of baptism (immersion into the waters of life), or the flood (beasts in water). The ark is the body / earth / creation. This is revealed in 1 Peter 3.
The whole Bible is a kaon. In 1 Peter 3, the topic is, "Wives, submit to your husbands." We read this as sexist, but the truth is esoteric. Later in 1 Peter, he reveals this:
"18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. 19 After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— 20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
You then take this key and apply to the Sutra stories to find the answers to the Case Law in Koans. We hang from the tree to become the fruit we generate. We become the tree from the seeds. This then goes back to every Sutra you have ever read about consorts.
PLATO: "It is natural for great power and wisdom to come together, and they are for ever pursuing and seeking each other and consorting together. Moreover, these are qualities which people delight in discussing themselves in private conversation and hearing others discuss in their poems."
From Plato to the Hebrews, all scriptures were shared along the trade routes.
Read your own answer in relation. The one hanging on the tree is the fruit produced, which is the answer to the first four lines of the Diamond Sutra. The monk puts on a robe (body), enters the city to beg with an empty bowl (his mind in Samsara), then returns to take off the body and eat the meal as he again sits in Sattva above. True meditation is the life we are projecting in the world around us. We're not really here, which requires us to climb the tree of life. What's the gate we enter through? Eve's feminine generative principle.
Koans are case law, meaning always true. If the stories in other scriptures fit, the case is the same, which is the point of Koans. The humor is in the one saying, "bring me a question."
He might not have laughed, but we can. I often tell my unwed son to go to a library and get some knowledge. It's where I met my wife. He didn't understand for many years, but finally got it (so to speak).

Think of the Buddha as the Great King of Healing. He has set up eighty-four thousand medicines to cure the eighty-four thousand diseases. The master just used the appropriate technique to release the disciple from his bonds, as for an illness one prescribes medicine.

aloha steve,
My response to this might be, "bring me a question." (wink)
In zen, the tree is the hundred foot pole. In genesis, either the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, or the tree of life. In christianity it is the cross.
The koan involves a monk who is capable of transmitting the dharma hanging by his teeth. The case in essence is that if the monk opens his mouth and speaks, he falls to his death. If he fails to answer the question, the capacity for transmission does not exist. Thus, to answer - that is, to transmit the dharma - involves losing one's life. One opens one's mouth to speak the unspeakable and the speaker is gone.
What does this really mean? Forget the "meaning" and think of the situation. There is another zen story in which a man is hanging over a cliff by a fraying rope which is about to give. He knows he will fall to his death at any instant, and sees a berry on a bush just within reach. He grasps the berry, eats it, and finds it the most savory thing he has ever tasted.
The monk in the koan finds himself hanging by his teeth and called upon to transmit the dharma. It will cost him his life to do so. His life is hanging by his teeth anyway. What attitude shall he take to this situation? With humor and resignation and courage and a will to establish the dharma, he says, teeth opening and body falling, "bring me a question!" in the way of accepting his fate in full submission. A proper "bride of christ" if you will.
Your trace through the bible wasn't entirely convincing. Too many leaps of faith. Have you read swedenborg, aka " the buddha of the north"?
