Beautiful music a distraction or helpful?
Publications: 140 Date d'inscription: 17/02/10 Publications Récentes Sometimes when I have been sitting for an hour or more and have
relaxed and settled into the practice I hear beautiful music. Today
it was all Queen music since I watched Bohemian Rhapsody last night.
But it was better than the original, or I enjoyed it more than the
original, maybe because of my meditative state.
I wondered if it would be better to sing along with Queen, or to
observe the music and let it go. Not literally sing along with my
own mouth and vocal cords, but sing along in my mind. Go into the
ecstasy of it, or let it go.
What do you think? | |

Spam or not I would say Enjoy Life when you live life and when you meditate then meditate. If song comes in the mind note the heck out of it; imagining, feeling, excitement, preassure in the body, feeling skin going all goosebumps, imagining Freddy Mercury's face, energy surging through the body and head, frequency in the ears ... music, its another object of meditation.
I love Queen! Such an amazing band! (oh jeez, Im now having goosebumps people

I don't get the references to picospan and Spam.
I looked it up and picospan and found "Picospan was a popular computer conferencing tool written by Marcus D. Watts for the Altos 68000."
I posted the same thing on Well.com and copied it here. Is the Well still using picospan? Is that why the numbers are in the original post? And so what? Why is that worth mentioning? I don't get it.

Every time we tell a joke we take a chance.
It's wonderful that we all keep taking those chances.

I tend to have earworms that tell me something about what I need to work on. The subconscious has funny ways of giving hints.

I'm going to answer the original question the Zen way:

What do you think? | |
Like in a lucid dream, you know you are dreaming but in an ordinary dream you think it is real. If you get carried away by your thoughts and let them take over your mind, you are not lucid. If you are observing your mind and know it, you are lucid.
Whether you go into the ecstasy of it or let it go, do it mindfully. Be lucid.
You might learn something by going into the ecstasy and watching your mind, and then after a while you might learn something else by letting it go. Don't get caught up in rules - always do this or always do that. Try different things, be mindful, observe your mind, and that way you will learn the most.
