I just watched an interview with Dan Ingram talking about the practise of noting. Should I attempt to exclusively notice the rising and falling of my breath or should I attempt to note whatever sensations arise and naturally come to my attention the most? Or should I only note other things when they are a distraction to noting the breath? Should I only note the rising and falling once or should I attempt to note the rising or falling of the breath as much as possible, in every conceivable moment? Should I scan different bodily locations and senses in a rotating order? Or do I practise each of these different meditation styles separately or together and how much how often?

Besides Mahasi's outstanding book, check Shargrol’s Structured Noting Practice Sample and some summaries of Daniel Ingram's MCTB2 practice instructions and tips.
