Great dharma talks by this guy. Tibetan Buddhist Lama.

"Creation and Compltion Yoga" is a great overview of how guru yoga works. His taks on "No Compassion, No Awakening" are great too.

Just completed listening to the 1st part of No compassion,no awakening.Really enjoyed a lot, thanks for posting. emoticon
Metta meditation has completely changed me.Before I was always depressed, sometimes almost without any reason,it was like I had built in depression all the time and always felt guilty for small incidents. And now I have a lot of reason in my life to be depressed if I want to be and a lot of people around me throw all their anger and guilt on me and I'm like happy & chilled. And also my confidence has improve greatly and I can now socialize with people very easily all thanks to meditation on compassion.

Andrew, thanks for posting this! I definitely found it to be a good intro to guru yoga.

Saturatedfat, those sound like some great benefits! There seems to be a lot of different ways to do Metta. I've read a bunch of posts on the subject, but never having been formally introduced to the practice, I'm a little confused as to options for how to begin. This thread talks about each practitioner finding the right version of the practice for themselves.

It would be cool if someone would start an Intro to Metta thread. I think if a few people outlined their own method of how to get started it might help more Metta-newbies (like myself) get into the practice.  Any chance you'd be willing to write some more about how you went about structuring your practice? Thanks.

Go to http://santifm.org/santi/downloads/ click on retreats, then 2007 metta meditation course,I liked this the most

http://www.dhammanet.org/dhammatalks/mettaretreatgermany2013 This is another retreat, both are similar.

Ajhan Sujato's method is quite well structured,so just follow the instructions and it will work.I might write a detailed metta guide but I've been only doing metta meditation for 5-6 months.Need atleast 1 more year of practice to write anything significant.

I've been recently doing this meditation with the mantra I use in metta meditation. For example I say "May I be happy" then breathe in love and breathe out love like instructed below for 1-2 minute and again repeat "May I be happy",instead of only repeating the mantra. This really creates a good metta flow and works for me.I also try to use this method all day long outside sitting practice and it works great.I try as much as I can to not force the breathing and let love flow by itself.

"L

et love be like breathing. Breathe in, breathe out, but let it be love coming in, going out. By and by with each breath you have to create that magic of love. Make it a meditation: when you breathe out, just feel that you are pouring your love into existence; when you breathe in, existence is pouring its love into you. And soon you will see that the quality of your breath is changing, then it starts becoming something totally different to what you have ever known before. That’s why in India we call it ‘prana’, life, not just breathing, it is not just oxygen. Something else is there, the very life itself." -OSHO
