Another good Mahamudra list:
Another good Mahamudra list:
Don’t recall
(Let go of what has passed)
Don’t imagine

Don’t think
(Let go of what is happening now)
Don’t examine
(Don’t try to figure anything out)

This also sounds like the dzogchen "pointing out" - are they essentially the same thing? I always liked these tibetian ideas.

I think this looks more like instructions for Shikantaza since it looks for all the possible clingings that could be there and what to let go of. Of couse you wouldn't want to do this in daily life when you actually need to think, recall etc.

This might be something to examine, but I don't think these pairs match up:
Don’t recall
(Let go of what has passed)
Don’t imagine
(Let go of what may come)
Don’t think
(Let go of what is happening now)
If you're letting go, does that really mean stopping various mental processes, or does it mean allowing them without inhibitions. The last one especially, I think letting go of what's happening can cause a lot of thoughts to "break loose" so to speak. I think I favor the bottom lines over the top. The top sounds like a lot of "doing," which goes against the very last line saying to rest.

Tilopa's advice is Mahamudra. Very similar to Dzogchen practice. Also from Tilopa's Mahamudra Upadesha that you may also like:
"Your body has no core, hollow like bamboo.
Your mind goes beyond thought, open like space.
Let go of control and rest right there. "
and
"At first, practice is a river rushing through a gorge.
In the middle, it’s the river Ganges, smooth and flowing.
In the end, it's where all rivers meet, mother and child."

Recall
(What has passed?)
Imagine
(Oh what may come!)
Think
(What is happening now?)
Examine
(Try to figure Everything out)
control
(Try to make Something happen)
Act
(Live. Don't die before your time)

About math. Though I've found that thinking dont solve problems for me. When I program it just comes to me. Designing stuff requires planning and structure but usually one thinks way to much. Thats why most software, websites and what not is really bloated and sucky. The voice in the head dont really help all that much. I only here it when I have write in english when writing in native its not needed. Its a little weird.
But I like the mahamudranstuff above. Though Im really clueless about what that is really.
