I'm going to undertake a programming project. I'm looking for ideas, so if you have any -that relate, or not, to meditation, buddhism etc.- they are welcome!

My primary goal with this is to learn the basics of Object Oriented Programming and to brush up my SQL. (I'll go with Java unless I join an existing project in C++). That means that the internet side of the project, if any, will be simple, and that I exclude the smartphones applications market.

What about an Iphone app that screams at you every hour or so: "You self-important little twit! You're going to die!"

I could use one of them!

how about a program which compares the different maps of enlightenment and heuristically tells you where you currently are located on the various models given the input of meditation experience and or emotional symptoms?
