Personally, I haven't been to Dhammasukha.
Nevertheless, there has been some discussion, in more than one thread, concerning the merits of the approach proposed by Bhante Vimalaramsi, the founder of the center.

Furthermore, the center offers free online one-day metta retreats
here (you are encouraged to offer dana, of course). It might be a good idea to register for one and sit with them as a way to get a taste/feel for what an on-site retreat could be like. (This is just a suggestion based on a hypothesis I have not yet verified myself.)
