What is meant by "2nd Buddha"

If you were wondering, the term second buddha, often applied to Padmasambhava means that he did his survey of rebirths using second jhana versus 1st jhana as Guatama Buddha did.

To be more specific, Guatama buddha made his last connection of rebirths under the "guidance" of the happiness subpart of 1st jhana. Maitreya uses the equanimity subpart of 1st jhana to reach enlightenment (under a survey of "rebirths").

This explains why the Buddha says "happiness did not remain." So don't be scared of impermanence!

You obviously know your stuff. Its always been taught to me at Maitrreya is the "next" Buddha, the next "emmenation" body" but that was eos from now.
