It's back!

We've fixed the DhO messaging system, also called a "portlet." If you want to send a message to another DhO member you can now do so, and thank heaven for this nice, wonderful returning capability. Just click on the "Messages" link in the main menu bar. All of your old messages, if you have any, will be there as they were before.

If I may -- I'd like to urge at least a few of you to test the new messaging portlet and let us know if you have any issues. You can message me if you don't want to message anyone else. We'd like to make sure it meets our needs.

Is someone on to the task of getting back the date and time stamps to our posts too? 

 Yes, we're attempting to fix the major issues that were previously articulated by DhO members (all of us) in priority order. The message boards are our next area of focus, so please stay tuned.  These fixes are not easy to do, so please have patience. Much has changed since the original implementation of the DhO on Liferay, and over the course of successive upgrades and versions. Sometimes the code that drives DhO is in a portlet, which is more or less free-standing. Some of the code is embedded in the core of Liferay. So... it's complicated but hopefully doable.

Linda, would you mind sending me a few messages for testing purposes? Anyone is welcome to do this - we need your help!

Sounds great! I can wait for a long time, no problem. I'm just very grateful if the date and time stamps return on the logs some day. I understand that when a forum gets adapted to suit specific needs, quite a few hacks get done that are difficult to move when the platform changes (or whatever wording is more technically correct).
