The LED flashlight on my phone is very bright compared to a candle. Folks feel sure that it's safe?
It's a lot less overhead than candles! And works well in daylight. Thanks.

I used a small led flashlight all day for 20 days and there were no physical effects. It was brighter than a cell phone flash light. I liked it better than a candle.

Thanks Jason, that's a pretty rigorous test. How long did you look at the LED before closing your eyes?

Regarding the use of LEDs, a French study referenced by this article is alarming

They've also been shown to be harmful to fruit flies

If you have very healthy eyes, probably it's not a problem. I don't have very healthy eyes, and it causes pain in my eyes if I use such strong light sources.
