Posting in Dharma Battleground?

I wrote up a post about the mechanics of awakening that I felt might be a good opportunity for some friendly debate and discussion. Accordingly, I tried to post it in the Dharma Battleground section. The server seemed to eat the post without posting or acknowledging it. I tried copying and pasting it in again and the same thing happened.
Is there some kind of lag or approval process for that section, are users not supposed to post there, or was this an error?

I tried updating a post in the regular forums yesterday and it got eaten as well, tried again a few minutes later and the same thing happened again. Wasn't sure if it was my connection or the site, but it worked itself out after an hour or so. Seems like there may be an issue with this server.

I just created a test thread there and it seems to work just fine. Can one of you try to post there again, please?

Thanks for testing! Just tried to post again and it still got eaten.
The thread is about awakening and not super confrontational, so I might see if I can post it elsewhere on the forum. If it gets too battleground-y, do mods have the power to move it?
EDIT: Turns out I can't post threads anywhere on the forum

It.... just worked. I tried previewing before submitting, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. I guess I'll consider this issue resolved.

The issue I had last night seemed to work itself out as well. If I encounter it again i'll post here. Thanks Chris.

Yes I had the same problem in the thread on the Second Half of the Territory. Multiple attempts all got eaten ... by the void?
Edit: The problem seems to be fixed.

I've been trying over and over to post a reply to david in the wondering about existence thread, and fail repeatedly. Just eats it. I was able to reply to another thread now, so, ?

Just tried to update my practise log and it ate my post again. Not a big deal, but just more confirmation that something is flaking out.

Just had it again with my practise log, i've noticed it happens more when I attempt to update a post versus creating a new one, if that helps track it down.

I've reported these issues (and one more that I've noticed in regard to the "Recent Posts" function), to Daniel Ingram, who can access the deepest recesses of the DhO that only Wizards can see.

I think that wizard might need to have another look, because I couldn't post just now. Then suddenly (after trying over and over again; luckily I managed to copy the text before it disappeared because I saw it coming) I had posted double posts, so I deleted one of them, only to find that the thread hadn't made it to the top of the recent posts list, wherefore I thought somehow both posts had been deleted. It turned out that one of them remained, but now it seems like the system believes that the post I replied to was the latest post in the thread.
It's in the thread questioning the need for cessations.

No, but I haven't posted any more in that thread since what I reported in it. The error in recent posts seemed to linger for that particular thread. I'm not sure it is solved yet.

It seems like that particular problem concerns other threads as well, but not consistently. Weird. The forum motor seems to misinterpret which post is the latest one for some threads.

Great. Much appreciated.
I think this has been going on for a while. Some threads have mysteriously disappeared and then popped up again. I used to believe that the oroginal poster took them away or that there was some moderation going on. Now I suspect that it was the forum motor that interpreted the threads as much less recent because of this bug.

I have noticied it too that in recent weeks a few threads disappeared from Recent Posts. It could be that something goes wrong with server's time, or with update time of posts, ot timezone of posters etc.

I don't think that problem has anything to do with individual users' cookies. I normally use Safari but I just now opened the page in firefox, which I have never used for this page before, and the problem remained. For instance, Daniel's thread about new videos is marked as his post being the last one in the thread, which is not the case.

Yes, it's server side. I am gussing it could be related to a bug in liferay, around updating dateTime for posts, and/or their retrieval based on update dateTime.

We'll have to wait to see if anything can be done, reset, reindexed or otherwise fixed.
Keep in mind, everything that happens here on DhO is done by volunteers. We generally have full-time jobs, too, so things may take some time to get to. And let's be honest, this is an Internet-based messaging system. I've worked with many of these things over the years, some very, very well staffed and funded, and they're still inherently a bit wonky in my experience.
Please be patient and in the meantime, a best-practice to use would be to save your posts before you hit the submit button. You can save them in the clipboard or to the text editor of your choice. That way you don't end up having to re-type them if they get munged, eaten or lost.
And... we will keep working on the issues you're having.

I guess my participation in this thread was only because of curiosity in technical part, not based on any expectation.
And I am really gratefull for all the work that you Chris, Daniel, and all other volunteers do to maintain this system. Very much appreciated.
I would be glad to help with technical part, unfortunately I haven't worked with liferay before.

FYI: About this, and postings disappearing...
I made a post to that thread, then decided what I said wasn't accurate and deleted it. The thread then showed up listed under Daniel's initial posting date, and not the last post listed. It was my deletion that caused the change.

The same thing happened to me twice, when I made posts for the sole purpose of checking if I could make posts (there had been difficulties).
And Chris, no worries, I do not expect anyone to drop everything else just to attend to this. Just trying to contribute with information about the specifics of the problem. Bugs are expected on forums, after all, and I understand very well that the work done here is voluntary. I think it is handled with excellence. No complaints.
It seems like we now know why it happens to some threads and not others: it happens when somebody deletes a post.

Haha, I was thinking that it is only logical that impermanence should be manifest on a forum like this, but I didn't have any quotation to spice it up with.
