Ok, I've come into some money. I need an intermediate to advanced Buddhist book to buy right now because I've read everything I have. Throw at me your choice!

Am I right in guessing that you have read Seeing That Frees (https://tinyurl.com/yp29nhax)? If not, read that now. If so, what about https://www.amazon.ca/Buddhas-Words-Anthology-Discourses-Teachings-ebook/dp/B003XF1LIO. Lot's of meat on that bone.

Martin, I have read Seeing that Frees many times.
I'm not into reading suttas, so not any of those.
Just an intermediate to advanced Buddhist book (could contain Dzogchen, Muhamudra, Nature of Mind, etc)

Have you asked your teacher? There might be something to be said to reading something that points in the direction that you are already going, rather than potentially distracting you from the path she has you on.

Your welcome! I started to read that book this week. It's really good. Also, subscribe for free to https://www.facebook.com/groups/AwakeningToReality as there you'll find reviews/discussions of lots of books from the Mahayana & Vajrayana camps.

+1 Thoroughly recommended. A fantastic book. It is literally all you could need. Stop buying more books! Also on Spotify and other places as an audio book, read by the author. Fantastic!

Some books that have helped me which aren't listed here:
- Shift into Freedom
- Our Pristine Mind
- Moonbeams of Mahamudra
- Living Dharma
- Everything Arises, Everything Passes Away
~~Not Meditation, but will definitely help clear the way to healthier overall meditation, expectations, etc.~~
- Inner Gold
- Own Your Own Shadow
- Contentment: A Way to True Happiness
(All books listed here are by Robert A. Johnson)
Obviously, I'm relatively new to the path, but if you want my strong recommendation, get the Robert A. Johnson books and ditch the meditation books. There's no real secret sauce in meditation. It's just words - like garnishing on experience. However, there are some secret sauces in getting your psychological and conceptual house in order. Robert A. Johnson's books do really well, that touch on the mystery of living in a way that doesn't drown you in false hope, or unreachable standards.
No book will change much. I think books on meditation are like arranging logs in a fireplace. Eventually, no matter how the logs are arranged, you're gonna have to light the match and actually burn the things. Maybe it'll burn some special way if the logs are arranged a certain way, but who'll notice, and who'll really care at the end of the day? Eventually, you'll see the point of the fire is warmth, not a spectacle. And there will be a unique spectacle every time you light the fire anyways. Plus, as you become an accomplished fire-lighter, your time will become more precious, and you'll just throw the logs on and light the fire.

I would be very happy to discuss WUTYL as that is my main practice at this point.
Thanks for the offer! I'll look you up when I get to that point

If you like the elements/realms stuff in WUTYL, Spectrum of Ecstasy is also pretty good on that with a slightly different angle, lots of good examples as well.

Dear Sam,
congrats on getting WUTYL as well!
You might not be needing a new book soon if you start working with it.
However, in light of recent developments, you might be interested in checking out these two sources:
Adyashanti: The End of Your World
Jack Kornfield: After the Ecstasy, the Laundry
Frankly, I am only somewhat familiar with the first and read only exerpts from the second. Still, they do deal with some issues on integrating major insight (which I guess WUTYL addresses as well).
And of course feel free to just chill for now without regard to any book or recommendation.
Metta on your way from here on.

Exactly what I said to my local meditation group this morning. After the SE, I actually really do have to my laundry!
