Cultivating Brahmaviharas to enter jhana

Careful work has led me to abandon formal insight practice. I am still on the learning curve however and rather than getting fruition, I am substituting jhanas . There's a question of which came first that's bugging me. To whom do I address my complaint?

Jhanas make me sleepy, but seeing that I'm on medication, maybe that's the best outcome for me considering the circumstances.

I am preparing myself for a total solar eclipse in four years. I need to know what I can take with me, metaphorically speaking.

I don't remember what context I was relying upon when I dilineated that strand of thought. My apologies.

Ok I remember now. I consider jhanas to include those without the progress of itsight, those hard jhanas, and brahma states of mind. So basically under this setting you have either access concentration or jhana. There's not any room for any other kind of state.
