Hi All,

A close friend of mine had an accident few days ago which made me think more about the metta meditation.

I understand it in a generic way. But here are my questions:

1. Is it based on faith that it works, or is there experiential evidence?
2. do I have to be in close proximity to the object of meditation to work?
3. Is it related to the energy flow? If so, how does it work from a distance?

My personal experience is only with my wife and kids when they're close to me. When I feel my love for them, I feel the energy in my body flowing towards them. They even start to have something like spasms if they're sleeping. I'm not sure though if they actually benefit from that.
